Woman Found Dead from Homicide at Apartment Fire: Police

Dallas police say they are now investigating a homicide after a woman's body was found in a burned apartment Friday afternoon.[[378457981,C]]

Firefighters were called at about 1:45 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 14000 block of Peyton Drive.

There, they found a woman's body in a burned apartment unit.

The woman, identified by her family as 53-year-old Eliuth Arteaga, lived in the apartment with her daughter, son-in-law and their three children, they said.

The woman's granddaughter told NBC 5 Arteaga was home by herself at the time of the fire.

One person has died in an apartment fire in Dallas, officials say.

Police said Arteaga died from "homicidal violence," but additional information was not released.

No other injuries were reported in the fire.
