The owner of a Van Alstyne day care has been accused of putting antihistimines in children's food so they would fall asleep after lunch.

Kimberly Lane, the owner of the Luv N Learning day care, was arrested and charged with 16 counts of child endangerment after someone called authorities and said she was mixing an over-the-counter antihistimine with milk and then giving it to children.

Investigators are now trying to figure out how long Lane had been dolling out her concoction, known as "special milk."

Lane and the day care are now being investigated by Child Protective Services and the Van Alstyine Police Department. At the time of Lane's arrest, officials said 15 children were at the day care and that they ranged in age from 20 months to just over 4 years old.

According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Lane was issued a license to run her day care on June 2, 2010. Since that time, the day care has been inspected seven times and three deficiencies have been found. The deficiencies, all on Dec. 16, 2010, were for staff records not having a signed affidavit, the director missing two of the required 20 hours of annual training and for one out of four children's records not having the required hearing and vision testing.

All of the deficiencies were corrected before the end of the year.
