Dallas Zoo is saying goodbye to its oldest exhibit, Cat Row.
Since its opening in the 1930s, the habitat, which was funded by the Federal Works Project Administration (FWPA) and Centennial bond money, has seen many renovations, but zoo officials are ready for a change.
"We want nothing more than for our guests to fall in love with wildlife in the right setting, and to support us as we find ways to create a better world for animals," said Harrison Edell, Dallas Zoo’s Vice President of Animal Operations and Welfare.
The Texas felines include two bobcats, two cougars and two ocelots. All will be relocated to other institutions next month, zoo officials said.
Dallas Zoo will be hosting a farewell weekend on Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 1.
The zoo plans to use the space as an extension for its outdoor event area.
