Dallas Wings Win Home Opener; Welcome Home Irving Star

Irving MacArthur's Odyssey Sims Scores 23 Points In Home Debut

The Dallas Wings tipped off their inaugural season at College Park Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington.

The Wings, who played the first three games on the road, start their 2016 campaign as the first WNBA team to hit the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Irving native Odyssey Sims is averaging 16.7 points and 4.7 rebounds this season. Sims was a standout at MacArthur High School and Baylor University.

Sims scored 23 points in the 82-77 win over the San Antonio Stars.

"I think they are (family and friends) more excited than anybody. More excited than me even," said Sims. "It's great to be home."

Sims' MacArthur High school coach, Suzie Oelschlegel, attended the home opener.

"This is one of my happiest days of my life. To have it right here, in our hometown," Oelschlegal said.

The Wings relocated from Tulsa.
