Dallas' Taco Stop Helps Those in Need of Warmth

Taco Stop, on the 1900 block of Irving Boulevard, near Turtle Creek Boulevard, has a rack full of coats and a large sign outside that reads, "Are you cold? Take one. Do you want to help? Leave one."

The restaurant's owner, Emilia Flores, says it's her way of giving back. And the campaign has been so successful that nearby Noble Rey Brewing Company has put up a similar sign with hopes that more people stop by and help out.

Flores says she just wanted to provide a space for others to help out the community and encourage others.

"There's a lot of need out there. This area has grown and changed a lot, but there's still a lot of homeless people around," Flores said. "They actually grab a coat. I think people that can do it should help in any way."

The racks have already been cleared twice, Flores said, and she plans to keep the sign posted through the winter months.
