Dallas Stars Forward Mike Ribeiro Arrested

What the puck?

Dallas Stars center Mike Ribeiro was arrested late Sunday on a charge of public intoxication at a Plano restaurant.

The 30-year-old hockey player was released from the Plano jail at about 4:45 a.m. Monday.

Ribeiro, his wife, Tammy Williams, and two friends, Darcy Lewis and Wayne Lewis, were taken into custody at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Ra Sushi Bar just off Spring Creek Parkway near the Dallas North Tollway.

All four face charges of public intoxication. One of the four arrested, Wayne Lewis, also faces an assault charge.

Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said the team will handle the matter internally.

The Stars recently began the 2010 season, and Ribeiro scored the winning goal in a shootout Saturday to beat the New York Islanders 5-4. The win gives the Stars their first 2-0 start since 2006.

Dallas plays its home opener Thursday night against Mike Modano and the Detroit Red Wings.
