Dallas Police Search for Hit-and-Run Driver

Dallas police are searching for the driver of a pickup truck that drove away after hitting and killing a pedestrian Monday morning.

It happened just before 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of West Davis Street and North Barnett Avenue in West Oak Cliff.

Police believe the victim, Chris Rodriguez Garcia, walked out in front of an eastbound vehicle and was struck and killed.

Police said Garcia was not in a crosswalk. "If the person would had just stopped it is more than likely they would had not been in any kind of trouble," said  Sr. Cpl. Dean Winfield, with the Dallas Police Department.

Now the driver faces a felony charges of failure to stop and render aid.

Officers are looking for a white pickup truck with damage to the front left headlight. The truck was traveling eastbound on Davis Street in the left lane but no other information about the vehicle was available.
