Dallas Police Investigate Remains Found in Ditch

Josh Ault, NBC 5 News

Dallas police say they are investigating human remains found in a drainage ditch.

Dallas police say shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, a man collecting cans in the area of Beckleymeade Avenue and Interstate 20 flagged down a Dallas Fire-Rescue ambulance crew and told them he thought he found a body in a ditch.

When police officers arrived they found a badly decomposing body in the underbrush of the drainage ditch.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and the Dallas County Medical Examiner removed the remains.

Police say the medical examiner's office will identify the body and determine the cause of death.
