Dallas Police Investigate Potential Officer-Involved Shooting At Teen Party

The Dallas Police Department is investigating an incident they're classifying as an officer-involved shooting that took place at a community center on June 24 at 10:30 p.m.

Dallas police said officers responded to a major disturbance Friday night on the 4200 block of Tioga Street. When they arrived at the community center, they found several hundred teenage party goers inside.

Officials said while inside the facility, the officers heard multiple shots being fired from outside of the facility. Additional crews were called to the scene.

Dallas Fire Rescue and Dallas police said a 17-year-old was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital where he is still recovering. There have been no reports of other injuries.

Teen witnesses told police once the scene was cleared that the victim was shot by one of the initial responding officers. Because of witness statements, this incident is being treated as an officer-involved shooting, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The Special Investigations Unit of the Dallas Police Department is investigating the full incident.
