An 11-year-old girl in Dallas is being hailed a hero by her family after she fought off a robber to protect them.
At about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, a woman said she and her two girls were about to leave when a man tried to force his way into their home in the 2600 block of Grafton Avenue.[[290843461,L]]
After trying to get in the home, the man started to grab the mother’s purse.
“My mom was like 'no, please don’t do this to me.' I thought he was hurting my mom, so I got on him and started pulling him,” said the 11-year-old girl. (She and her family asked to not be identified.) “So I just grabbed him and pushed him off,” she said.
That’s when the girl said the man turned on her and grabbed her wrist and started to drag her across the yard.
“I was pulling back, so I didn’t let him take me,” she said.
The man, frustrated, slapped the girl across the face, then let go.

The girl said he stole her mother’s purse, then got in an SUV and sped off.
“I’m doing a little bit better, but my face kinda hurts from where he hit me,” she said.
“I think she’s crazy! And brave,” said the girl’s sister.
Officers said the suspect is a Latin male, unknown age, approximately 5’10, 180 pounds and driving a gray SUV.
Investigators said when the suspect was trying to leave, his SUV had mechanical problems and they are hoping that can help their investigation.
