Dallas police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run early Wednesday morning in the 3600 block of South Marsalis Avenue.

Dallas police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run early Wednesday that took place on the 3600 block of South Marsalis Avenue at about 4 a.m.

Police say the initial call came in as an unconscious man lying in the street. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and found a man dead in the median of Marsalis Avenue at Overton Road in front of South Oak Cliff High School.

Wednesday morning, police said the man, later identified as 88-year-old Jacob Kelley, was hit by a driver who failed to stop and render aid.

Police have not released a vehicle description.

South Marsalis Avenue reopened to traffic just before 6 a.m.
