Dallas Police Investigate 50th Attempted ATM Theft

Dallas police are investigating the city's 50th attempted ATM theft of the year Tuesday morning.

Three masked people broke into the Friendly Drive In on the 5400 block of South Lamar Street at about 5:30 a.m., police said, by prying open the locked front door.

The trio then located the ATM bolted to the ground next to the cash register. The men were able to pry the ATM free before leaving in a white van with red lettering, police said.

The successful theft is the 23rd successful ATM theft of the year; there have been 27 other failed attempts.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video but at this time have not released any further information.
