Dallas Police Increase Patrols After Uptown Robberies

Dallas police have increased patrols in an area of Uptown that has seen at least six separate armed robberies in as many weeks, according to police reports.

The most recent crime was reported around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of Cole Avenue – along Cole Park – when two men in a van drove up to a woman, pulled a gun, stole her cellphone and shoved her to the ground, according an incident report of the crime.

Prior to Tuesday night's incident there were five separate incidents with similar results – suspects with weapons robbing victims at gunpoint, police reported.

  • May 8 – Near Cole Avenue at Elizabeth Street
  • May 13 – Near Fitzhugh Avenue at Travis Street
  • June 7 – Near Blackburn Street at McKinney Avenue
  • June 7 – A separate robbery near Blackburn Street at McKinney Avenue
  • June 19 – Near Blackburn Street and Oak Lawn Avenue

Central Patrol Division officers have increased patrols in the area, according to Dallas Police Corporal Tramese Andrews.

In addition, detectives have identified persons of interest in at least some of the crimes, Andrews said.
