Dallas Parents Win $142 Million Verdict After Infant Suffocates at Day Care

A Dallas County jury on Thursday awarded $142 million to the parents of a baby who suffocated after being swaddled for a nap at day care. Experts called the verdict one of the largest of its kind in the county, if not the United States.

Zac and Heather Lytle sued after their 7-month-old son, Roger, was found face down and unresponsive at a home child care facility in north Oak Cliff in 2014. They accused All In The Family Child Care Services of negligence, in part because Texas day care facilities are prohibited from swaddling infants, or wrapping them snugly in cloth, for naps.
