Dallas Parents Get Jump On Immunizations

Shots are required for students to re-enter school this fall.

Some Dallas families are not waiting until the last minute to make sure their children meet an important requirement for school.

On Saturday, parents and children attended a Back To School Immunization Clinic at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on South Hampton Road in Oak Cliff. The clinic was presented by Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services.

Organizers said there was no line but that could change as the August 27 school date nears. Click here for a link to the immunizations required by the Dallas Independent School District.

"Now is the time to get the immunizations, don't wait until the last minute," said DCHHS Director Zach Thompson. "Parents, don't procrastinate.. bring your children in now because if they are not able to get in school the first day because their immunization records are not up to date.. that's the parents' fault."

There are more clinics scheduled. Click here for a link to the DCHHS Immunization Clinics and Hours.
