Dallas Police Officer Involved in Crash Heading to Intruder Call

A Dallas police officer was involved in a crash Thursday while responding to a 911 call where a woman said someone was in her home threatening to kill her, police said.

NBC 5 has learned the officer was responding to the call with lights and sirens activated when she collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Camp Wisdom Road and Hampton Road.

At this time, no further information is known about the 911 call.

The front end of the officer's patrol car, which came to rest in the center of the intersection, was significantly damaged and the air bag had been deployed.  The pickup truck the officer collided with went through the intersection and stopped off the roadway.

Details about the injuries to the officer and the driver of the truck are not yet known; both were transported to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.

The southbound lanes of Hampton Road remain closed. Traffic in other directions is moving slow through the intersection, but drivers should expect delays as the crash is investigated and cleared.
