A standoff ended peacefully at about noon Tuesday after a barricaded person surrendered to police.

According to Dallas police, SWAT was called to a scene on the 10000-block of Muskogee Drive, not far from the intersection of Masters Drive and Lake June Road.

Shortly before noon, Dallas police tweeted that officers were negotiating with the person and that a 3-year-old child was inside the residence.

Police did not say who was inside the home or why they were wanted.

At about noon, the person walked out of the home with the child and surrendered, according to police.

The person was taken into custody and the department tweeted a photo of a SWAT officer carrying the child to safety.

Fred F. Florence Middle School in Dallas was placed on lock down while the standoff was under way. Pleasant Grove Elementary School, which is also near the scene, was not placed on lock down.
