A Dallas man who helped run a heroin ring in North Texas has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
Prosecutors linked Refugio Ramirez-Garcia to heroin distribution cases going back to 2006. Ramirez-Garcia in January pleaded guilty to drug-related conspiracy counts.
Dallas police in a March 2006 drug raid seized more than 5 pounds of black tar heroin from the suspect's apartment, plus cocaine, nearly $67,000 and three digital scales.
Investigators say Ramirez-Garcia, who was sentenced Monday in Dallas, admitted the cash was from heroin sales.
Five co-defendants earlier were convicted and sentenced to prison terms range from 15 months to 15 years.
