Dallas Firefighters Battle Blaze at Apartment Complex

Dallas firefighters battled a blaze at The Vineyards apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started just after 5 p.m. in the 8800 block of Ferguson Road in Dallas.

From Chopper 5 flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the three-story apartment complex.

Investigators have determined the fire began accidentally, caused by roof work being done to the building.

The fire started in the eaves and fell down onto the balcony of a vacant third-story unit. The damage was contained to that one apartment.

Flames were out by 5:40 p.m. but smoke could still be seen.

No one was injured and no residents were displaced.

Lakeland Road was shut down due to emergency vehicles battling the fire.
