Woodall Rodgers Ramp Reopens Hours After Fiery Crash

A busy Dallas interstate ramp reopened Tuesday evening several hours after a fiery crash involving an 18-wheeler.

The fire was a result of a collision between the semi and a car on the northbound exit ramp of Interstate 45/North Central Expressway to westbound Woodall Rodgers Freeway, according to Jason Evans with Dallas Fire-Rescue.

After the crash, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m., diesel fuel leaked from the truck, causing flames to quickly spread to the street as other drivers passed inches from the fire.

The ramp was closed until just before 10 p.m. as a hazardous materials unit cleaned the fuel off the road.

The truck driver was not injured, firefighters said. The driver of the car was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries but is expected to recover.
