Dallas Driver Gets Stuck in Water-Filled Pothole

A Dallas driver became stuck in a pothole that was masked by a nearby water main break Tuesday morning.

Eddie Johnson told NBC 5 he was driving near the intersection of East Grand and South Fitzhugh avenues when he saw a puddle of water pooling from the break of the water main. He said the puddle didn't look deep, so he drove through it.

When he proceeded through the puddle, though, Johnson became trapped in a hole. He said his front tire was stuck and his car wouldn't move.

"It wouldn't go forward or backward," he said. "The wheel would turn, but you could tell there was nothing up under that wheel."

Dallas police arrived and helped Johnson exit his car through the passenger side. Crews towed his car out of the hole.

Authorities said they fixed the water main break and crews patched the hole.
