Newly-elected Dallas City Councilman Lee Kleinman is being hailed a hero after he helped a driver in an overturned car in the middle of Forest Lane near the Dallas North Tollway underpass.

It happened Wednesday night, when Kleinman was headed to pick up his dog from day camp. That’s when he saw the car headed in his direction.

Kleinman’s first instinct was to swerve to avoid being hit and then to help, when the car flipped and ended up on its roof in the middle of the road.

"I just pulled over and got out of the car and opened the door to see if anyone was hurt," he said.

At first, there was concern that the driver may have suffered neck or back injuries, so they didn't pull him out right away.

"The guy woke up and unfastened his own seatbelt and tumbled onto roof of car," Kleinman said.

That's when Kleinman and other Good Samaritans jumped into action.

"We just kind of pulled him out and took him to car wash there and gave him water," he said.

Kleinman was able to get his dog from day camp and Dallas Fire-Rescue took over to help.

The man is believed to be okay, as he was conscious after the wreck and talking to firefighters.
