Dallas-Bound AA Flight Returns to Beijing After Dreamliner Damaged by Hail

An American Airlines flight headed to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport had to return to Beijing, China after the plane was damaged in a storm Monday morning.

Shortly after takeoff, flight AA88 encountered a hailstorm that damaged the nose of the Dreamliner, according to airline officials.

The pilots were able to return the plane to Beijing safely.

Officials said they are inspecting the plane and making arrangements for passengers.

American Airlines began using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for direct flights between D/FW and Beijing June 2.
