The Red Cross is assisting 13 families displaced by an apartment fire in East Dallas on Sunday.

At 4:06 p.m., Dallas Fire Rescue was called to the fire at the Five Tree Apartments in the 4700 block of East Side Avenue.  Residents of 36 units evacuated with no injuries.

Firefighters arrived to see flames coming from the roof of the 2-story building.  They extinguished the fire by 5:28 p.m.  One firefighter suffered a minor injury but was treated on scene.

In a statement, the American Red Cross said it hopes to conduct damage assessments to determine the type of help each family will need to recover.
