7 ARRESTED IN DRUG BUSTS, 2 OTHERS SOUGHT
At least seven people were arrested in narcotics busts conducted by Dallas police at several locations Wednesday. Police said crack and other drugs were sold for years at a car wash near the fairgrounds. Police said the timing of the raid was not related to the state fair, which starts in about two weeks. Officers also hit two nearby drug stash houses and a supplier outside of Dallas. Police are still seeking two people on drug charges. Click here to watch a video report on NBCDFW.com.
DALLAS RESERVE OFFICER ACCUSED OF SPIKING DRINKS
A reserve Dallas police officer was arrested early Wednesday morning at a lower Greenville Avenue bar. Witnesses said a bartender saw Brad Hellums pour a white powder in the drinks of women at the Sugar Shack in the 1900 block of Greenville Avenue. Hellums was charged with public intoxication, two counts of tampering with a consumer product and possession of a controlled substance, police said. Click here to read this story on NBCDFW.com.
KID, 8, STEALS CAR FROM SCHOOL, SAYS SCHOOL OFFICIALS
School officials in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District said an 8-year-old boy asked his teacher to go the bathroom -- and then stole a van and left campus Tuesday. A passing motorist also called deputies after noticing the pint-sized driver. Read more here.
FIRE AT ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY KILLS 1
A fire at an assisted living facility in Flower Mound killed a resident Tuesday night. The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. at the Flower Mound Assisted Living Facility on Morris Road. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, but later found a woman who had died from the fire. The fire was contained to a small section of the facility and residents were allowed to return to their rooms after the fire was extinguished. The name of the victim has not yet been released. The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.
HOUSE FIRE KILLS DOG, INJURES MAN
One person was injured and a dog was killed in an early-morning house fire in Plano.Rescuers were finally able to get in and found a man in the back of the house. He was rushed outside where CPR was performed before being rushed to an area hospital. Firefighters also found a large dog that did not survive the fire. Read more here.
TEACHER ARRESTED ON SEXUAL MISCONDUCT CHARGES
A Bridgeport teacher has been arrested on two counts of sexual misconduct. The teacher, Derek B. Worlow, was a teacher at Bridgeport High School at the time of the alleged incidents with a 16 year old student. Worlow was arrested on a charge of sexual assault-child, a second-degree felony, and for an improper relationship between and educator and student, also a second-degree felony. Worlow is currently being held in the Wise County jail on $50,000 bond.
NIGHTCLUB MANAGER ROBBED BY LOOK-ALIKE COPS
A nightclub manager was robbed in Irving by two men dressed as Dallas police officers. The man said as he exited his vehicle he was approached by two men wearing windbreakers that said "POLICE" on the front. The men forced the victim to the ground, pointed a gun at his head, removed his cell phone, robbed him of $2,000 and then sprayed him with mace. The large amount of cash was from the nightclub that the victim was to deposit into the bank's night deposit box. Aside from minor irritation from the mace, the victim was not injured. Just two weeks ago, the Dallas police issued a statement that said they were seeing an increase in stolen police gear, including uniforms.
