BODIES RECOVERED FROM LAKE ARLINGTON
Officials have recovered the bodies of a father and son who disappeared during a Thursday night outing on Lake Arlington. Investigators said the 25-year-old man and his 5-year-old son never returned from a canoe outing on the lake near the family's west Arlington home. At 8 p.m. Friday, police announced they located a body believed to be that of Chatham Berry. Earlier in the day,at about 10:30 a.m., officials said they had located the boy, canoe and life vests, but were still searching for the child's father. Fort Worth police searched the lake's west bank; and Arlington police were searched by boat with assistance from FWPD's AirOne helicopter.
DRIVER, PASSENGER KILLED WHEN EJECTED FROM CAR
Two people were killed when they were ejected from a car early Friday morning in Fort Worth. The car was found overturned near state Highway 121 and Interstate 35 West just after 3 a.m. Police are investigating the accident and have not said if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
DRIVER WITH CAR TROUBLE KILLED ON LOOP 12
A driver was struck and killed early Friday morning when he exited his car on the shoulder of Loop 12 in Irving. The man and members of his family were headed southbound when the car developed a problem. While pulled over to check on the vehicle, the man apparently stepped into traffic, police said. He was then struck by several passing cars. Investigators are talking with witnesses to determine how many cars struck the man.
MAN WANTED FOR FORT WORTH BANK ROBBERY
Fort Worth police are searching for the man who robbed a First Convenience Bank on Wednesday. The man walked into the bank inside the Kroger grocery store on the 6600 block of N. Beach Street at about 11 a.m. and used a note to demand cash from a teller. The teller obliged and the man fled with an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses described the man as white, wearing a Texas Longhorns T-shirt with blue jeans and white tennis shoes with a dark-colored ballcap. Fort Worth police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to contact Det. T. Weldon at 817-989-3317 or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS.
TEEN TURNS SELF IN AFTER FATAL HIT-AND-RUN
Amanda Marie Ray, 19, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid after turning herself in to the Arlington police Thursday evening. Police said Ray was wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run near Interstate 20 and Little Road that killed 75-year-old John Price on Tuesday. Witnesses to the two-car crash called police and provided them with enough information to implicate Ray, police said. Ray is being held on $10,000 bail.
