A driver who refused a traffic stop and led police on a chase has eluded capture in Dallas Friday afternoon.
According to officials, law enforcement attempted to stop the driver of a white SUV while headed west on Interstate 20 near Polk Street. The driver refused to pull over and the chase was on.
Officers pursuing the vehicle reportedly lost sight of the driver somewhere near W. Camp Wisdom Road and Greenspan Avenue.
Aerial footage from Chopper 5 showed that several police and sheriff's department vehicles caught up with the SUV in a nearby residential neighborhood, just blocks away near the intersection of Racine and Clearwood Drives.
By the time officers got to the vehicle, it had been abandoned and the driver was nowhere to be found.
Police have not yet said why officers attempted the traffic stop or why the driver may have fled.
No further confirmed information is readily available.
