A bill in the Connecticut legislature would shrink drug free zones from 1,500 feet to just 200 feet.

Dallas school board trustees voted Thursday night to extend their terms.

Several groups protested the change, arguing the current board of trustees is responsible for the district's dire financial situation.

But others rallied in support of Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and the board.

"We're seeing these things that are beginning to happen that are positive for our children, regardless of some of the blunders that may have happened," said Pastor Mark Gonzales, of Dallas Area CLET.

Instead of three-year terms, the trustees will now serve four-year terms.

  • Why not? Friday, Nov 21 at 1:29 PM FLAG COMMENT Heck, if they can vote themselves in for one extra year, why stop there? Go ahead and vote your selves all in for a decade with a pay raise while you are at it. Embaressing. Where indeed are the checks and balances. Elected officials should not get a say in how long they stay in office.
  • Can you believe that? Friday, Nov 21 at 12:54 AM FLAG COMMENT Yet another fine example of our corrupt DISD board and administrators. Where Is exactly is this cheks and balances system?
