Dallas school board trustees voted Thursday night to extend their terms.

Several groups protested the change, arguing the current board of trustees is responsible for the district's dire financial situation.

But others rallied in support of Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and the board.

"We're seeing these things that are beginning to happen that are positive for our children, regardless of some of the blunders that may have happened," said Pastor Mark Gonzales, of Dallas Area CLET.

Instead of three-year terms, the trustees will now serve four-year terms.
