DISD Students Say Substitute Teacher Touched Them Inappropriately

The Dallas Independent School District is looking into allegations that a substitute gym teacher inappropriately touched several fifth grade students.

Dee Anne Egan, principal at George Peabody Elementary School, wrote in a letter sent home to parents that students reported the alleged touching and the teacher was immediately asked to leave the campus.

School officials say they are now gathering facts.

Meanwhile, several parents and family members who were picking up their kids at the school Wednesday said they were very upset about this.

"They are coming to school so they are safe, not be in the streets, but yet it’s going on in school," said Nancy Tenorio, whose younger sister is a student at Peabody Elementary.

"They are innocent children that have nothing to do with anything. I’m speechless when it comes to stuff like this," said Ann Marie Casarez, whose niece attends Peabody.

The Dallas Police Department is also investigating, and detectives were at the school Wednesday.

DISD Superintendent Mike Miles said officials also continue to investigate a situation in which a teacher at J. L. Long Middle School somehow accidentally showed a nude image of herself to an entire classroom of students.

"I can tell you those are being investigated right now and they are being resolved appropriately, or handled appropriately," Miles said.
