DISD Again Opts to Not Extend Hinojosa's Deal

Dallas school trustees, for the second straight year, declined to extend the contract of Superintendent Michael Hinojosa.

Hinojosa's annual evaluation was Thursday. He did not seek a contract extension for his deal, which ends in 2012.

The Dallas Independent School District has been dealing with financial problems that forced some teacher layoffs.

Trustee Carla Ranger said "this has been a tough year." She added that it would be irresponsible of the board to extend the superintendent's contract at this time.
