DFW Connector Still on Track for Early Finish

The massive DFW Connector road project is still expected to finish this summer, an entire year ahead of schedule.

Major construction on the $1 billion project, a complete reconstruction of the interchange north of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, is scheduled to finish this summer.

Work began on the project in 2010.

Traffic flow has picked with the temporary pavement and concrete barriers gone in most places.

Some of the permanent traffic patterns are now in place, with more to come.

Northgate Constructors said in July 2013 that it expected to finish the project one year ahead of schedule. The company said then that it credited the early finish to the 24-seven work schedule, collaboration between of the groups involved in the project and generally favorable weather.

About 250,000 commuters travel in the area each day.
