DART Train, Car Collide Near MLK Station

    The scene of the crash near Pennsylvania and Trunk avenues.

    A car collided with a DART train near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and S. Trunk Avenue Thursday afternoon.

    The intersection is one block south of the MLK Station.

    According to DART police, witnesses told Dallas police the driver was driving erratically before he drove through the crossing arms and into the train.

    DART said the driver collided with the rear of the lead railcar, between the two railcars.

    The driver was detained and investigators found drugs.  DART police said the investigation was turned over to them and that they plan to arrest the man for drug possession. 

    A passenger in the car was injured and transported to an area hospital. Her condition is not yet known.

    DART said one person on the train was hospitalized.  Their condition is not known.

    The Green Line was delayed until about 4 p.m., when it resumed a normal schedule.
