Customs Finds 34 Pounds of Heroin in Laredo

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say they have seized $1.5 million worth of heroin and cocaine from a man crossing the border into Texas.

Officers at the Laredo Port of Entry said Wednesday the drugs were discovered on Monday at the Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge.

They said 34 pounds of heroin and one pound of cocaine were found hidden in the SUV of a 50-year-old man from Iztapalapa, Mexico.

The drugs and car were seized by border officials. The man was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
