Custodian Accused of Sexually Assaulting Elementary Student

Suspect claims complete innocence

An elementary school custodian was arrested on accusations that he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old boy on school grounds.

Luan Quang Le, 59, is free on $100,000 bail, the Garland Police Department said Thursday afternoon. He’s charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Le is a custodian at O. Henry Elementary School in the Richardson Independent School District, police said in a news release.    That school is located at 4100 Tynes Drive in Garland.

The multiple sexual assaults are thought to have happened on school property, during school hours this past school year, investigators said.

“Garland detectives are continuing their investigation into Le's activities and have not ruled out the possibility that there may be other victims,” Garland police spokesman Joe Harn said.

Le spoke about the allegations by phone from his Garland home Thursday evening.

“I don’t speak English well, so I’m not sure how to say this,” Le said.

“I am sure I am innocent,” he said.  “I am sure I didn’t do anything like this to any student in the school.”

“I am so sad,” Le said. “I hope the judge will make clear the case and return my honor and my reputation and also my innocence.”

Le said he did not want to comment any further on the case.

Richardson ISD spokesman Tim Clark said the district is cooperating with police in the ongoing investigation and contacted parents Thursday afternoon.

"Parents are being requested to contact Garland police at 972-272-8477 if they feel their child may have had any inappropriate contact with Mr. Le," Clark said.

Le has worked in the RISD as a custodian for 14 years, including the last eight at O. Henry Elementary School, according to information provided by the district.

He has been placed on indefinite leave.
