County Commissioners Vote 4-1 to Support 2 Recommended Changes at Parkland Hospital

There were proverbial fireworks over Parkland Memorial Hospital Tuesday at the Dallas County Commissioners meeting.

The commissioners voted to support two of the 20 recommendations included in a recent report on the county hospital.

Those recommendations call for better communication between the Parkland Board of Directors and the Commissioners Court, and establishing a committee at Parkland focused on ethics.

But County Commissioner John Wiley Price objected, saying the commissioners should discuss all the recommendations first.

The vote was 4-1, with Price voting against the resolution.

Commissioners are planning to meet with Parkland’s board next Tuesday to discuss the recommendations.
