Country Club Klepto Corralling Credit Cards

Thief breaking into cars, lockers at clubs in Denton, McKinney and Dallas

There's a thief lurking amongst the country club crowd.

Denton police say a man has broken into cars and lockers at clubs in Denton, McKinney and Dallas.

"He had a shirt that looked like a country club worker -- a polo-type shirt -- and goes into the locker rooms [and] opens the lockers that were unlocked," Officer Ryan Grelle said.

Denton Country Club general manager Stan Becker said one of his members had his car broken into. The thief went straight for the credit cards.

"There was his wallet -- he had $600 dollars in his wallet. It was not touched. Nothing in his car was touched. The guy just went in there and picked up his credit cards," he said.

Denton police have video of the man using the stolen credit cards at Target and Best Buy. Investigators said he has racked up thousands of dollars in bills buying computers, cameras and Apple products.

Denton police are urging country club members to check their credit card statements for any unusual purchases.
