New Twister World Record Set at Thomas Rhett Album Release Party

A Texas-sized game of Twister wasn't exactly what country music star Thomas Rhett had in mind when he decided to name his sophomore album 'Tangled Up.' But he and his team at Big Machine Label Group wanted his album release party to stand out.

So they booked him a show at AT&T Stadium and set out to break the world record for the largest game of Twister ever played.

Time-lapse video captures crews setting up a giant Twister board at AT&T Stadium for a country musician who wants to set the record for the largest game of Twister.

"To be back here celebrating such a moment in my life that I've been looking forward to, it's fantastic," said Rhett. "And what bigger place could you ever ask to do it with?"

Rhett said he was "shocked and amazed" when he walked out on the field Wednesday morning and saw the setup.

Crews spent more than five hours combining 1,200 customized Twister boards into one giant mat that covered half the field at AT&T Stadium.

"I think it's crazier than what we imagined," said Kelly Rich, senior vice president of sales, marketing and interactive for BMLG. "It's exciting. We got here really early this morning to set this up."

Hundreds of fans participated in the Twister game, which lasted for more than an hour. A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to certify that the group had broken the previous record set in 2011 by a university in the Netherlands.

After the game, Rhett took the stage to perform his hit single 'Crash and Burn' and other brand new songs from the record.

"It'll be the first time we've played them in front of anybody at all," said Rhett. "So we're nervous – which is going to turn into pretty awesome energy. And hopefully the crowd likes it."

The first impressions are looking good. Rhett's new single 'Die a Happy Man' climbed to number one on the iTunes Country Charts Wednesday – and the song has not yet reached radio.

"There's something on here for everybody,' said Rhett. 'I think you're going to have a blast listening to the whole record top to bottom."

'Tangled Up' will be available for purchase and download on Friday.
