Convicted Sex Offender Gets Life in Prison

Houston judge sentenced Michael Snowden to life in prison

A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to life in prison for molesting a 6-year-old boy in a Houston public library bathroom.

A judge in Houston sentenced 23-year-old Michael Joseph Snowden. Snowden pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Investigators say the attack happened in November 2010 when a 6-year-old boy and his 8-year-old brother were disrobing to prepare for a swim lesson near the library. Their father had slipped out to the family's vehicle to get the children's bathing suits.

Snowden pleaded guilty to molesting the younger boy in a stall. Snowden apologized in court Thursday and said he's being treated for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Records show Snowden in 2005 was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a toddler in Upshur County.
