Cold weather on Thursday caused the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo to close its legendary attractions.

The Stock Show's Carnival Midway, located on the east side of the Will Rogers Coliseum, features six acres of rides.

The amusement park usually opens at 4 p.m., but organizers decided against it.

“There are so many rides out there on the carnival midway, that it was just probably not feasible to have our operator have someone stationed on every ride, when there was a good chance the traffic was going to be extremely slow because of the weather,” said Shanna Weaver, publicity director for the Fort Worth Stock Show.

Organizers have not said if the carnival will remain closed on Friday.
