Cockrell Hill Remembers Fallen Officer

20-year old Tiffany Hickey died in 1999.

Law enforcement gathered inside Cockrell Hill's city hall on Saturday to remember police officer Tiffany Catherine Hickey. She was the only officer who died in the line of duty with the department.

"She had a great reputation of always making friends with her coworkers and with the community," said Michael Sellers, Chief of the Cockrell Hill Police Department.

Officer Hickey died on May 30, 1999, six days after being involved in an accident during a vehicle pursuit.

The 20-year old officer was in training and had been with the department only six weeks.

Last year the city renamed a street off of Cockrell Hill Rd., in honor of Officer Hickey to make sure her name isn't forgotten among its residents.

"It's comforting to know that the city remembers her and her friends remember her," said the officer's father Lee Hickey.
