Cockrell Hill Elementary School in DeSoto was evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to the threat of a dangerous device being left on campus.

The DeSoto Police Department told NBC 5 the school was evacuated at about noon after someone at the school received a call where the caller said a bomb would go off inside the school at 12:30 p.m.

Officials with the DeSoto Independent School District decided to evacuate the students to a nearby church, the United Methodist Church of the Disciple on Cockrell Hill, while police searched the campus.

After the search was concluded, police did not report finding anything unusual.  The entire building will be searched again with the a bomb-sniffing dog.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the district posted a message on their Facebook page that school would resume Thursday on a normal schedule.
