Clerk Fights Back Crime Through Social Media

Robbery caught on camera; clerk tweets picture

A Dallas store clerk is fighting back, and doing so with the help of social media.

Owner Mahesh Gurung, says Thursday evening, a loyal customer was about to cash out. That’s when a thief went behind the customer, ripped money from the customer’s shirt pocket and took off.

“I was thinking it’s a joke, is he joking?” he said, “I was yelling stop, stop, stop!”

Gurung even tried to fight back, reaching over the counter, it was all spotted on surveillance video.

“I tried to pull him, pull him but still I lost him,” Gurung said.

It’s the first time the owner witnessed a crime at his South Riverfront location in Dallas. The owner is determined to make sure police find out, so not only did he call 911 but tweeted the picture out.

“I want to catch him! I want my police officers to catch him!” he said.

His hope is the next time the bandit is spotted, he’s behind bars.

“I’m not scared that’s the message I want to give them, don’t try.”

The customer was not injured in the robbery.
