Clean Bill of Health Coming for Air Around Closed Exide Plant in Frisco

Take a deep breath, Frisco.

After three years of monitoring, the air around the former Exide Technologies plant officially complies with the federal standard for lead.

The EPA drew an invisible rectangle around the plant back in 2010 after the amount of lead escaping from the smelting operations into the air was deemed unsafe. Frisco’s nonattainment designation for lead was the only one in Texas and among only 22 in the nation.
