City of Dallas to Close Interstate 30 Tent City Tuesday

City workers will install fencing and no trespassing signs under Interstate 30 in Dallas as Tuesday is the deadline to move out of a homeless camp.

Authorities will close off the second section of the camp between Hill and Haskell avenues beneath I-30. The first section of the camp, between Hill Avenue and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit line, was closed Oct. 6.

An estimated 82 people live in more than 100 tents in the Haskell encampment, which is the largest such encampment in Dallas, according to the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance.

This is the second homeless camp the city has closed this year. Authorities closed the Interstate 45 "Tent City" encampment in July.

MDHA and CitySquare will be on hand to help the residents of the Haskell encampment with housing and transportation.
