City Council Candidate Attacked Over Smoking Ban

Dallas city council candidate Bill MacLeod says he got his butt kicked for kicking cigerette butts out of bars.

City council candidate Bill MacLeod says he was assaulted over Dallas' new smoking ban.

A police report shows a "known suspect" threw MacLeod in the street after putting him in a "choke hold."

"I'm definitely the first person to get their ass kicked because of the smoking ban," MacLeod told Unfair Park.

MacLeod is running against current city councilwoman Pauline Medrano in District 2 in this May's election.

Ironically, MacLeod is against the recently initiated ban on all indoor smoking and has even spoken against the decision in front of council.

"This shows specifically that this is an incendiary issue -- no pun intended -- that people are smoking about the anti-smoking ordinance, and we don't have the infrastructure in place," MacLeod told Unfair Park.
