Emergency responders are at the scene of a helicopter down on Long Branch Circle northeast of Avalon in Ellis County.
Lynn Lunsford with the Federal Aviation Administration said the chopper suffered a tail rotor problem and made an emergency landing. When it touched down, the chopper rolled onto its side.
The aircraft is said to have suffered substantial damage.
Records indicate the helicopter is registered to Bell Helicopter. According to the Associated Press, Bell spokesperson Susan Gordon declined to say whether the Bell 214ST was on a test flight.
Gordon said the two pilots were the only people on board. Neither were injured.
