Child Suffers Bites to Face by Dog in Dallas

A 10-year-old child is in the hospital after suffering injuries to the face from a pit bull bite, officials say.

The Duncanville Fire Department transported the child from the 10200 block of Red Maple Drive to Children's Hospital.

According to the dog's owner, Anthony Johnson, the child climbed over a fence and into the owner's backyard despite repeated warning's from Johnson's son not to.

Johnson said the boy "got into the dog's face and got bit."

Johnson said the dog is a male pit-bull that weighs about 70 - 80 pounds. He said the dog has never shown signs of agression toward his children or the two other dogs that it lives with.

"I'm frustrated that that the kid jumped into my yard to begin with. I'm sad that it happened, but my dog lives back there, it's his area," Johnson said. "Nothing like this has ever happened before."

At this time, the identity of the child and other details about the incident have not been released. Johnson said Dallas Animal Services told him the dog would be quarantined for the next several days.

It's unknown whether any charges will be filed.
