Child Dies After Care from Mother's Boyfriend: Bedford PD

Bedford police say a 24-year-old man is suspected of causing injuries that resulted in the death of his girlfriend's 7-month-old daughter.

Police said the child's mother left the baby in the care of her boyfriend, Kyle Ray Gooch, when she went to work Tuesday afternoon.

When she returned home Tuesday night, the woman checked on her daughter, Presley Lindsay, and noticed she was making unusual sounds and was limp when picked up. The mother and Gooch took the baby to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, and she was then rushed by ambulance to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Presley passed away Wednesday night.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the baby sustained what they are calling "non-accidental" brain trauma while under Gooch's supervision.

Gooch is currently charged with injury to a child, and is being held at the Bedford jail on $50,000 bond.

The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office is expected to continue the investigation in the coming days.
