Child, 4, Dies After Being Run Over in Driveway

Police believe incident was accidental

A 4-year-old boy was killed early Thursday morning after being accidentally runover by his mother.

Dallas-Fire Rescue were called to a home on the 800-block of Fouraker in Oak Cliff after the child's mother backed over the child.

According to police, the mother was dropping her children off at their grandparents home at about 7:20 a.m. when the accident occured.

Police said the mother saw the first child, her 9-year-old daughter, heading toward the house but she couldn't see the little boy.  The woman backed her Suburban up to get a better view and that's when she ran over her child, police said.

The child was transported to Children's Medical Center in Dallas in critical condition, but later died.

Dallas police believe the incident was accidental and that the woman is not expected to face any charges.

The names of the mother and victim will be released after all family members have been notified.

The Dallas Police Department initially said the deceased child's age as 5-years-old.  Early Thursday afternoon they informed us that the boy's age was, in fact, 4-years-old.
