Chief: Texas Officer Suspended for Faking Reports

The Austin police chief has indefinitely suspended a lieutenant who he says had an affair with a woman and embellished and falsified reports in an effort to arrest her husband.

Chief Art Acevedo announced the suspension of Lt. Jason Disher on Wednesday. He has been with the department since 1999 and was recently promoted.

Investigators said Disher violated the department's policies on retaliation and honesty. Disher submitted a warrant in April for the man's arrest on a harassment charge. He claimed the man drove past his home in an intimidating way.

The wife told the department the allegations were false. Police said Disher's version of the events was inconsistent.

He has 10 days to appeal the decision.
